When the cold temperatures hit I sometimes find myself wishing for the sun and warmth so much, I forget to realize how beautiful winter can be. Striped of their leaves, trees become almost like sculptures and snow covered ground reflects the light in hues of cool blues and purples. This past weekend we headed up to Maine for a little winter wonderland weekend. The days are even shorter up there as the coastline creeps eastward, but the low sun and quite forest are spectacular. Bébé (almost 1 year old now and not so “bébé) loved my sister’s big sweet dog and being pulled around in her sled on the crunchy snow. I need to remember to enjoy winter for what it is and not wish it away for spring.

Only when I am without, do I realize how tech dependent I am. My laptop is on the fritz and has been admitted to the Apple hospital. I have also been in and out of the studio (where my desk top lives) so I have been attempting to work/post/live via iPhone and iPad alone. Even with all the features of the iPhone and iPad, I am still super reliant on an actual computer. I am hoping to be fully operational soon, but for now I am sending this post via my iPhone.
To brighten your day, here are the lovely orange and yellow tulips that are brighten up my kitchen this week. (As already disclaimed, photo from my iPhone)
On a slightly related note, I am thinking of streamlining my work/life and upgrading to a 13″ MacBook Pro retina and just use a monitor in the studio…thoughts.

I love horses. Always have, always will. As a 5 year old I was so convinced I was going to get a pony, that after a very vivid dream one night, I got up and searched the house for the pony I was sure my parents were housing in the garage. Alas, no pony for me, but I still love to ride and I love to visit stables. Sea Island has one of the most beautiful stables I have every seen and the other day I took my little girl (almost 11 months old now! Eeek!) to go see the horsies. She LOVED it to say the least. Looks like we have another little girl horse lover on our hands.
Who doesn’t love a little equestrian style interior and fashion? I know I do! And for all things horses my favorite blog is Horse Country Chic. Ann really knows her horses…and style. Here are some of my favorites found on Pintrest. (Sorry for the pitiful photo credits. It is so hard to track them down via Pintrest…please fill in if you know a photo credit.)

A photo of mine…in InStyle!!!!! Hello 2013! The image is from a photo shoot I did for Erin Gates Design, of a gorgeous bachelorette pad designed by Erin herself. You may remember other photos of it here. It is the cutest place and the article in InStyle gives great tips when decorating your home. Perfect timing for all that post Christmas freshening up we all want to do. Grab a copy today!

We returned to Boston late last night from our wonderful week a the beach and reality hit this morning at a brutal and arctic 18˚F. Six bags of luggage and laundry need attending too as well as all the work I ignored last week, not to mention our pitifully empty fridge. (String cheese and bread and butter pickles will not be an appropriate lunch for bébé.) So as I attempt to face reality, I am happy to reminisce about our fabulously New Years Eve dinner. My mother organized the most glamorous, gorgeous, family dinner ever! We had the entire wine cellar at The Cloister hotel for our own private family dinner. Candle light lit the cellar and reflected off of the mercury glass candle holders. Flowers filled mint julep cups, and the wine…oh the wine…It was all very Downton Abby. We talked about favorite places to travel and dream places we wanted to go. Silly movies, favorite books and family stories. A ridiculously fabulous way to end end an amazing year. Thank you mom and dad.
And one of my favorite rooms at The Cloister hotel:
