Cape Cod in the Fall

October 3, 2011

To celebrate our wedding anniversary we popped down to the town of Chatham on Cape Cod.  The weather was still beautiful but the summer crowds had departed and the sun hung lower in the sky indicating the changing of the seasons.  I love the beach and the ocean any time of year, but particularly now in the quite fall.  Chatham is an old fishing community on Cape Cod, that now also boasts some of the most beautiful homes on the Cape.  It has all the charm of an old New England town that just exudes pumpkins, leaves, and sweaters all with the smell of the ocean wafting in the breeze.

We stayed at the ridiculously awesome Chatham Bars Inn with our room over looking the ocean.  I could have sat there all day watching the fishing boats come and go, listening to the fog horns in the early morning.

This guy has been waiting all year for October.

I just love the old wicker beach cabanas.  They just scream Jackie Kennedy on the Cape.

We found this on the beach.  Local art of mass exodus of horseshoe crabs in size order.  I love it.

We enjoyed the sunset with this deliceous and creative way to present chocolate covered strawberries, courtesyof the Chatham Bars Inn.

We savored every moment, bite, sunset, and ocean view.  It was a wonderful getaway.

“Come on Irene”

August 29, 2011

Okay, so I know the song is actually Eileen, but I had it in my head all weekend.  We decided to head to the Cape to stay with some friends (in a very secure off the water home) to visit and watch the pending hurricane.  Thankfully all went well and Irene was fairly kind to the Boston and Cape Cod area.  I did have to pop down to the ocean a few times to see nature in action.  It was quite impressive.

I hope everyone else on the east coast weathered it safely.

Summer Vacation

July 22, 2011

With the temperatures slated to creep into the triple digits today I am longing once again for the beach and ocean breeze.  Although I can’t complain much.  Last week the hubs and I took the whole week off and rented a house on Cape Cod.  It felt so gown-up to rent our own home and get away for an entire week!  The weather could not have been better as we spent our days on the beach adn exploring every inch of the Cape from the trip of the arm in Provincetown to Buzzards Bay and Woodshole.  I just love summer.

The week flew by as all great vacations seem to do.  I hope everyone has a great weekend and stays cool.

blog excuse…

July 13, 2011

We are renting a house on Cape Cod this whole week, and the fact that there is no wireless internet (how spoiled we all become…eathernet plug in…what is that?) and the ocean is right our my front door, is making it very difficult for me to blog.  I have some great additional photos of the Matchbook Magazine photo shoot I am dying to share with you all, and promise to do so soon.  But for now the ocean, my bikini and sunscreen are calling.  Hope everyone is having a wonderful week.
