Flock/Samantha House

July 19, 2012

Last night, Flock boutique, hosted an event to introduce Samantha House’s new jewelry line “Chevron” sold exclusively at the boutique.  I was excited to take a peek at Samantha’s latest collection, try on some pre-fall goodies and see some old friends.

Chevron is very simple, rustic and light.  Perfect for layering.  I love love love the beach pebbles and display.

Flock also showcased some of the pieces from Samantha House’s previous collection, “Play.”  The colors and dramatic sizes are perfect for fall, and what a great way to showcase them.  Flock never disappoints with in store displays.

(Photo shoots galore…I am certainly trying to cram as many in as possible the last couple of weeks.)

Samantha House Jewelry is launching her latest collection Sam and I had the pleasure of photographing it.  She sells her gorgeous jewelry at the likes of Barney’s in New York and specialty boutiques like Flock in Boston.  The kicker with this new line of jewelry is all items are under $100!  With gold and silver options the collection is delicate and airy.  I just love it.  Plus we got to play with the natural light which beams into my studio each morning.  The collection is not yet available but here is a sneak peek from our photo shoot.  I’ll keep you posted on its official debut.

The other week got I to make full use of my new studio space as I photographed a look book for the newest collection of Samantha House jewelry.  Her pieces are totally lust worthy and decadent.  We had such a great time with our model Jessica and playing with dramatic lighting in the studio.  These are the collaborative, creative types of photo shoots I live for.

Feast of Fancy

February 11, 2011

One of my most recent photo shoots was appropriately centered around Valentine’s Day.  Styled by the incomparable Erin Gates of Element-Interiors and Elements of Style, this spread for New Brahmin, was such a blast to photograph.  The combination of reds, pinks, purples and turquoise made for a gorgeous pallet, and the jewels…oh the jewels.  Let me just clarify, yes the gems were real yes, this photographer shamelessly drooled over the diamond earrings.  Check out the full slide show here.  Below are some grabs from the spread.

The glossy black candelabra is from Dunes & Duchess.  A beautiful line of home goods from stylies and editor Stacy Kunstel and photographer Michael Partenio.

I helped style a little bit by bringing some of my friend’s wine, an amazing cabernet named Sum 75 purchased at Brix in Boston’s South End.  I blogged about my trip to Napa and my visit to the 75 Wine Company head quarters here.

I had to share this great new jewelry designer CeCe Atelier.  Founder and designer Carolina Campbell (also a dear friend of mine from college) recently traded in her power suit as a Wall Street banker for the entrepreneurial life.  She is kicking it all off with a “stay warm” sale through the end of January.  Her timing couldn’t be more perfect.  With more snow today and another 12 inches predicted for Thursday I am dreaming of sunny skies, and her earrings just scream take me to Mexico!

I purchased these gorgeous bad boys this morning.  I think they would look great on me while lounging on the beach with a pina colada.

Here are some of my other favorites on sale now.

Here is Carolina showing you how it is done.  She is on the right.  How adorable is she?  Wish I was sitting there about now.

Go check out her sale here and stay warm blog friends.

Brimfield Baby!

July 20, 2010

Well, as I have been talking about for a week, I went to Brimfield!  After a rain delay one day, we then faced hot humid weather.  Yes I know I am from Georgia and I should be able to handle the heat, but the truth is, us Southerners are so use to air conditioning that we have become quite spoiled heat wise.  So with my hat, sunscreen, camera and expert Erin Gates, we tackled row after row of dealers.  What I found was a fair like atmosphere complete with unique people, dogs, carnival food and some amazing treasures (The suit cases above were used as props for the movie Around the World in 80 days…They were pristine.)  Erin posted many of my photos today over at her wildly popular and fun blog, Elements of Style, so much thanks to her for that exposure and welcome to those who have popped over to my blog for the first time.   Welcome.  (You will see many of the same photos from her post, with perhaps a few more…I have a terrible time editing.)

Treasures Galore!

I wonder, what was this eight-sided chest used for?

_

More chests and beautifully colored seltzer bottles.

_

Erin’s great grandparents, grandparents and parents all lived in Willimantic, CT, so I grabbed the shot, only later to find that my husband’s father’s side of the family all hail from Willimantic too!  How strange.

Ridiculous telescope, much like the one they have on the front patio of the Chatham Bars Inn.

_

Gorgeous wooden canoe.

_

Perfect corner chair.

_

This awesome paper holder makes me want to open a shop, just so I can use this to wrap up people’s packages.

_

Beautiful elephant marionette.

_

Lucite flatware!

_

More flatware and and cool red and magenta chest.

_

Blue glassware ready for a garden party.

_

Collections: So much stuff at Brimfield.  I became mesmerized with the pattern and repetition of things

_

I am seriously obsessed with this lamp.  Reclaimed architectural wood detail, repurposed for a lamp base!  The faded color!  I want a pair of them in my life.

_

“Museum of Natural History” type accessories.  These dried shelf fungi were beautiful.

_

Wine jugs.

_

I know I have seen these types of old glass buoy as props in various catalogues about 1000 times, but I still love them.

_

An eyeglass collection that would make Elton John green with envy.

_

And more vintage clothing and jewelry than I could even look through!

_

This lion made me think of Judy Aldridge over at Atlantis Home...she would have loved all the jewelry dealers.

_

And this goat.

I love, love, loved Brimfield.  Despite the crazy heat and sore feet the trip was fabulous fun!  P.S. I have the cards of many of the dealers and will update this post this afternoon with that info.

Little Treasures

July 19, 2010

I am busy editing my 100+ photos from Brimfiled.  As a first time visitor, the place was sensory overload.  There were so many little gems…also a lot of junk, and the challenge of distinguising between the two.  Luckily my friend and interior design maven, Erin Gates, knew her stuff.  She perused row after row of vendor like a pro.  As I soaked it all in, and snapped away.  Check out her post, part I, about the trip here.  I didn’t plan on buying anything big, but I did want to bring home a few little treasures of my own.  I was loving all the 50′s and 60′s vintage jewelry and after a little at home jewelry cleaner they really polished up.

Lucite bangle – very 60′s modern

Faux Ivory bangle with brass clasps - Bohemian cool

_

Cool multi-stone cocktail ring - such interesting design and details

_

More Brimfield photos tomorrow.  Happy Monday.
