For over 20 years, Charles Street in Beacon Hill has been known as antique store heaven. Over the past few years many have relocated or gone completely on the web, but there is still something about walking into an antique store and seeing these unique items in person. I think that is why I love Brimfield so much.
Last Saturday my aunt and I popped into one of may favorite antique stores on the street, Churchill and White, and the owner, Carol, was absolutely beside herself. With no notice, the owner of the building sent her a letter saying she had to be out by Aug 31st. After almost 15 years in the space and never being last on rent, Carol and her shop were out. Apparently the owner decided to give the space to a make-up company…please dear God don’t let it be a Sephora. Charles Street is the main street of Beacon Hill and still maintains beautiful historic charm.
Churchill and White has some of the most beautiful turn of the century English, Italian and Chinese antiques. We are talking the real deal here. Sadly the shop needs to be cleared and Carol is taking major markdowns on these unique pieces she has spent years curating. I returned with my camera to snap some images of the shop and items. If you are in Boston this summer I highly recommend visiting this store before it is gone. The pieces are amazing and true antique gems.
Staffordshire dogs galore.
Silver, silver, silver. A southern girls dream!
I love the idea of using a silver toast rack as a mail organizer.
And silver liquor plates. Love! So Mad Men. My grandfather had these.
Enough blue and white porcelain to “sink a battleship” as Carol said.
This one is called a peony ginger jar. How perfect!
Not to sound too old fogey, but they don’t make things like this anymore.
Possibly the worlds most perfect gold sunburst mirror.
Her collection of tortoise shell jars is exquisite.
This is just a snipit of what she has so feel free to pop in, call or email her.

Last week, my intern Jacalyn found the most amazing peonies for our photo shoot. (I was Instagraming pictures of them all weekend.) They were perfect bight magenta pink and looked amazing in the photo shoot.
The peonies were pretty closed up when she purchased them at Winston’s Flowers, however, they sure did not stay that small!
With the heat we had last week they began to open almost as she stepped out of the shop. Once we cut them and put them in fresh water, they got bigger by the second.
After the shoot I took them home to enjoy and they just got bigger and bigger.
And they started getting lighter…
By Monday they were completely bleached out!
I had never seen anything like that! A little Google searching by Jacalyn Monday morning revealed that once cut some types of peonies bleach out…It was amazing.

Hot town! My car thermometer read 102˚F yesterday. Yikes. That is hot even by southern standards, and 102˚ feels sooooo much hotter in the concrete and asphalt jungle. We braved the heat and worked on a really fun photo shoot yesterday for a fabulous new clothing line. I loved the urban back drop in contrast to the polish of the clothing. I cannot wait to share it with you.
P.S. The greatest intern in all the land, Jacalyn, sourced some of the most beautiful peonies I have every seen. They look fake they are so perfect. They now adorn my coffee table. Thanks girl.

AHMAAAZING!!!!! A huge congratulations to The Everygirl for being listed in Forbes Top 100 Websites for Women and the Top 10 Websites for Millennial Women. (That’s “20-something” women to you and me.) Thank you to Alaina Kaczmarski and Danielle Moss for featuring me on your site, and for featuring all the amazing ladies of 369 Congress Street. I feel even more greatness adjacent. Your place on the list is well deserved.

It is the longest day of the year and the official start of summer. With a whooping 15 hours and 16 minutes of day light today in Boston and temperatures in the 90′s, summer has certainly decided to arrive. The summer of my youth was spent with endless days at the pool, my hair turning green from the chlorine, bare feet, popsicles, and catching lighting bugs. It was my favorite time of year. I felt such freedom.

Hey there. Our intern Jacalyn is back with some of her favorite styles or men. She has pulled many of her looks from the laid back preppy style of Vineyard Vines. Whose founders, Ian and Shep Murray, were recently featured in an Improper Bostonian article. Their entrepreneurial story is quite inspiring. I highly recommend taking a read, after perusing Jacalyn’s pick
As Father’s day rolled around this year and I was thinking about what to get my own Dad, I began to put more thought into something that is truly underrated: men’s fashion. In my opinion, there is nothing more attractive than a well-dressed man. Everyone usually thinks that there is nothing to guy’s clothing but that is just far from the truth. In each season we see color trends and popular clothing items. Of course men’s options are not as great as women’s but there still is some great style watching behind men’s clothing. I have added some of my favorite summer looks for guys below.
Bowties… they have to be my biggest weakness
A man in pink
A classic navy blazer
Sarah here again. Jacalyn’s style picks got me perusing the Vineyard Vines website and I love the old photos they have of them starting out. Way to make a living off of the lifestyle you love!

Our amazing friends called us late last night to offer their beautiful home on Cape Cod for the weekend. It is in the darling town of North Falmouth and walking distance to the beach…an offer too good to pass up. So I am running around like a manic this morning trying to make it all work, amid nap schedules and tying up projects. I mean, we don’t even have a travel crib for the little munchkin. Here are some of my favorite photographs from our previous Cape getways.
Cape – out

I took these two iPhone photos on wholly separate days but love the colors together.
It got me thing about the color combination. A little Google search revealed that the saffron flower has purple petals, with the spice extracted being a bright orange/yellow. A color combination match made in heaven…or earth actually.
