Bodies in Motion

September 30, 2011

One of the great things about my job is getting to work with different people and businesses, helping them get photography and images for their website.  It exposes me to so many aesthetics, and challenges me to blend my photography style with their business needs and brand image.  Recently I had the pleasure of working with Swell Body and Boutique.  The owner, Emily was so fun to work with and it was so neat to photography some actual bodies in motion.

Her new Charlestown shop and studio has the cutest jewelry and workout wear, along with a full Pilates and Gyrotonics studio.

Best of the Best: Blonde

September 29, 2011

I am thrilled to share some fun new photos I took for the Jeffrey Lyle Salon here in Boston.  The salon was also just featured in the October issue of Allure as the best of the best for hair color!  Congrats Jeffrey, Timothy, Justine, Shannon, Heather and crew.  You all are the best.

P.S. I also can’t wait to share a video project I am working on the Jeffrey Lyle Salon the lovely Erica Johnson of Radiant Republic.  We are finishing up some details so stay tuned.

Desert Beauty

September 28, 2011

Growing up in the south and living most of my life in the deciduous forests of east coast, I find the desert of Tucson, Arizona absolutely fascinating.  The Sonora desert feels almost Jurassic Park like in its flora and fauna with two hundred year old saguaro cactus, mesquite trees, and enormous succulents blanketing the mountains and canyons.  Not to mention the road runners, javelinas, bob cats and coyote roaming the ranch. It is such a special place for me and such a departure from my everyday.

Am spending a few days with my mom and my sister at Canyon Ranch in Arizona.  Thank you, thank you, thank you mom for this amazing treat.  Just what this “beginning to really feel pregnant” lady needs.  I’ve got a ton of cool travel and a crazy work schedule coming up so stay tuned.  Hope you are having a great week.

Backstage at Tibi

September 19, 2011

Models, photographers, hair, make-up, fabulous clothes, lots of people running around frantically…backstage at a fashion show is everything you would expect.  (Except the models ate and I did not see a single mini bottle of Veuve Clicquot.  Oh well, perhaps champagne backstage is a Paris thing, but is makes sense considering most of the models probably weren’t old enough to drink :) )

From the Front Row / Tibi

September 16, 2011

What do Olivia Palermo, Sophia Bush, Emma Roberts and I have in common?  We all sat front row at the Tibi Spring/Summer 2012 fashion show!  Of course the similarities end there.  The major difference was their names were on their seats, where as I happily took the spot of an editor/buyer who could not make it in from Istanbul.  Beggars can’t be choosers and I happily helped the Tibi PR girls fill in the front row. :)

The clothes, the music, the models, the crowd, everything was amazing (the most over used word by me the past few days).  I am spoiled for life.  I cannot thank the amazing Tibi PR girls enough for inviting me and allowing me this opportunity.

I just loved all the 90’s minimalism going on here, beautiful whites, minty greens, bright yellows, and that sleek, deep, side-part pony tail.  It reminded me of the Gwyneth and Brad Pitt days.  I have more than a few things on my spring wish list.

Coming Monday: All the backstage madness that goes into making a fashion show.  Have a great weekend!

More news…

September 14, 2011

So the Tibi show was AMAZING.  Better and more exciting than I ever could have imagine.  I am still on such a high, that I thought it was finally time to let our some other amazing news I have to share.  The hubs and I are expecting our first baby!  We couldn’t be more thrilled.  I am due late January 2012, and all the preparation needs are beginning to sink in.  Don’t worry, this won’t turn into a baby blog, but some things may creep into here from time to time…like this little gem…the infamous SOPHIE!

My best friend gave me her as our first baby gift.  Sophie the Giraffe is one of her baby daughter’s favorite toys and we have been giggling about it for a while now.  Basically it is a $30 dog toy for children, and they love it!  It even says so on the box…

Sight:  The Dark and contrasting attention-catching spots all over Sophie the Giraffe’s body provide visual stimulation and she soon becomes a familiar and reassuring object for baby.

Hearing: Sophie the Giraffe’s squeaker keeps baby amused and stimulates his hearing

Taste: Her soft texture and numerous chewable parts (ears, horns, legs), make her perfect for soothing baby’s sore gums during teething.

Smell: The singular scent of natural rubber from the Hevea tree makes Sophie the Giraffe very special and easy for your child to identify amid all his other toys.

Touch: Sophie the Giraffe’s shape and size are perfect for baby’s small hands.

Um, yeah…like I said…a dog toy…but babies love it, and I am sure my little one will too.  Plus she really works with the safari themed nursery I am planning. :)

I am heading to New York for the Tibi fashion show!  The amazing PR girls at Tibi invited me to photograph all the pre-show backstage madness.  I am jumping out of my skin with excitement!  If you read my blog you know I love me some Tibi and have long frequented their amazing outlet store near my family’s beach house, but to see all the magic in action is just a dream come true.  The blog on their site is fabulous and chalk full of benhind the scenes goodies, inspitation boards and sketches from Tibi founder and designer Amy Smilovic.  Here are some of my favorite recent image, but go check it out yourself.

I promise lots of amazing backstage images soon!  Now…what I am going to wear?

Lobstermen

September 7, 2011

This past weekend we headed up to the beautiful town of Cape Elizabeth, Maine for one last dose of summer fun.  My sister set up this wonderful sunset cruise with Lucky Catch Cruises.  We boarded the vessel with our wine and cheese fully expecting a little cruise around the bay, but the captain and his crew soon had us donning lobstermen aprons and gloves…this was clearly going to be a working cruise.  We hauled up lobster pots, measured and inspected our catch and re-baited the pots, all with cocktail in hand.  It could not have been more fun!

Working hard…

I cannot recommend this excursion and the people of Lucky Catch enough.  It was fun, silly, educational, basically the perfect activity for every age.  They operate well into the fall so if you have a Maine foliage trip planned, I highly recommend some time on the sea as well.  It was a bast.
