Summer Nights

July 28, 2011

Is there anything more perfect than a 75 degree summer evening at the ballpark?  I can’t think of one.  Last night we had a great date night to Fenway, and the hubs taught me how to “score” a game.  How very There Something About Mary of me.

Well, we survived the blistering heat wave that engulfed the north east this weekend and welcomed a breezy, slightly cloudy Monday morning with open arms.  For the weekend we had my god-son in town, and we had a blast showing him Boston, despite the sweltering heat.

I had wanted to do a “tourist in your own city” photo blog post today, but I could barely manage to lug around my SLR this weekend in the 100+ degree temps.  I’ll have to just leave you with a little play-by-play of our tourist weekend in Boston.

Friday:

• Airport pick-up

• Walk to the North End, see outside of Paul Revere housr

• Dinner in the North End at L’Osteria – authentic, side street, mom & pop type Italian place.  Dinner in the quaint North End is a must for any Boston tourist.

• Improve comedy show at Improv Asylum (great fun)

• Gelato and walk home

__________

Saturday:
• Breakfast sandwiches at home (yum!)

• New England Aquarium (go see all my biologist and fish friends, was also nice and cool)

• Walk a bit of the Freedom Trail home

• Walking tour of Beacon Hill (Only mediocre this of the weekend.  Tour guide was about as exciting as dry white toast…we skipped out early)

• Walk to Cheers and despite god-son being 18 years old and never having seen Cheer, bought him a cheesy t-shirt

• Walk in Public Garden, so pretty

• Dinner at Beehive in South End (Delish and fun live music playing.  Walking in this place just makes you feel cool.)

• Dessert at the Top of the Hub.  (Totally a touristly thing to do, but with the best views of the city you can see why.)

_____________

Sunday:

• Drop off at the airport after a fun filled weekend.

THE END

Summer Vacation

July 22, 2011

With the temperatures slated to creep into the triple digits today I am longing once again for the beach and ocean breeze.  Although I can’t complain much.  Last week the hubs and I took the whole week off and rented a house on Cape Cod.  It felt so gown-up to rent our own home and get away for an entire week!  The weather could not have been better as we spent our days on the beach adn exploring every inch of the Cape from the trip of the arm in Provincetown to Buzzards Bay and Woodshole.  I just love summer.

The week flew by as all great vacations seem to do.  I hope everyone has a great weekend and stays cool.

Our photo shoot for Matchbook Magazine required a handful of images, but I couldn’t help myself.  The studio space of Jill Rosenwald and Lawrence McRae is a whole floor of white light, saturated glazes and ceramic loveliness.  Not to mention Jill is the acting mother hen and mentor to a whole bunch of us creative types in the additional studio spaces on the floor.  The place just exudes joy.

blog excuse…

July 13, 2011

We are renting a house on Cape Cod this whole week, and the fact that there is no wireless internet (how spoiled we all become…eathernet plug in…what is that?) and the ocean is right our my front door, is making it very difficult for me to blog.  I have some great additional photos of the Matchbook Magazine photo shoot I am dying to share with you all, and promise to do so soon.  But for now the ocean, my bikini and sunscreen are calling.  Hope everyone is having a wonderful week.

Matchbook Love

July 6, 2011

If you have not already checked out the latest issue of Matchbook Magazine (an online lifestyle publication and “field guide to the charmed life” as they call it) pop on over there now and flip to page 60.  I had the pleasure of photographing the talented duo, Jill Rosenwald and Lawrence McRae and their gorgeous studio.  The two create beautiful ceramic lamps, dinnerware, platters, bowls, vases and even design rugs.

Some of the selected photos form the feature I photographed.

On a side note, I also happen to rent my little studio space from them on the same floor so I get to see them almost daily, but it was a special treat to really dive into their world and photograph their studio.
